I'm Reece Downs, a full stack developer based in Folkestone, Kent. I started out fixing computers and designing graphics, and those two threads still shape how I work: I care about systems that run reliably and interfaces that feel obvious.
Day to day I look after The Hub, a portal used across a national security company, and its companion Android app for patrol officers. Being the only developer means I get to do everything — database design, API development, React front ends, Kotlin mobile work, Azure infrastructure and production support — and I've learned to prioritise the changes that make the biggest difference to the people using the software.
Outside work I take on freelance projects, study for a degree apprenticeship in Digital & Technology Solutions and keep experimenting with new tooling.
